Tasting notes - Teeling Single Malt

Teeling Distillery | Single Malt | Ireland | $52.99* | 92 proof | 100% malted barley

Welcome back.

This week, I share my tasting notes for Teeling Whiskey's Single Malt, an Irish whiskey in the heart of Dublin. Now they've got a really cool story. In the 1780s, they had a distillery in Dublin, and like many Irish whiskeys over time, it kind of disappeared. But in 2012, two brothers in the family started the process to reestablish the Teeling brand. And in 2015, they were all able to open the distillery in the heart of Dublin, just a Stone's throw away from the original location. It's the first new distillery in Dublin in over 125 years. And that's pretty damn cool.

So their single malt is 100% malted barley, it's 46% ABV or 92 proof. It is pretty light in color. They do not chill-filter. And what that means is they do not run it through a process to remove cloudiness in the whiskey. One of the really cool things that I find about this as well is they age it and mature it in five different wine cask. There's Sherry, there's port, there's Madeira, there's white burgundy, and Cabernet Sauvignon. And each of these in part of little bit different flavor to the whiskey. I don't know of a lot of single malts that are doing five different wine cask. Usually, they focus on one particular type.

So I mean, this whiskey is very fruit forward on the nose and the smell of it. Berries, stone fruits, maybe apricot in there, something a little tropical about it. The sweetness in it, smooth reminds me of like fresh sugar cookies. Those fruit flavors are carried through the taste, and then you get also a little bit of oak tannin, vanilla, a little spice, maybe ginger in there. But overall, very easy to drink smooth, and then the finish is medium length. Well, it's kind of, I would say it's phased. You have that initial kind of spice from what I think is ginger in there, and then it kind of mellows and kind of lingers on the back of your tongue in kind of a cooling sweetness, like a fruity sweetness.

If you're into fruity or floral scotches, whiskeys, the Teeling Single Malt is definitely worth picking up. Hmm, I look forward to exploring this a little bit more. Be sure to... And I would really appreciate it if y'all would like the video, share the video, subscribe. It'll help me out a lot. Greatly appreciate it.

Till next time, cheers.
