Smoked Old-Fashioned Ice Cubes

Smoked old-fashioned ice cube in new make whiskey.

This takes smoked ice cubes to the next level. Allowing you to start with whiskey and end with an old-fashioned cocktail.

Start with ice cubes. Why? Based on a few articles smoke is more attracted to cold surfaces than warm ones. The full cube also gives the smoke more surface area to adhere to.

  • For whiskey and cocktails, we prefer the large square ice cubes; you can get the silicon tray on Amazon.

  • Place them in your smoker (180 degrees) until melted.

  • Add bitters - a few dashes for each cube.

  • Add sugar - 1 tbs for each cube.

  • Stir until sugar is dissolved.

  • Refreeze, and voila you have an old-fashioned in an ice cube.

It is a novelty but a ton of fun at parties. Makes a great conversation starter and good way to batch cocktails.
